Community Donations

In recent years, the Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA) has sent out a year-end note asking for contributions to support nonprofit organizations in and around Sylvan Park.  The donations collected were then allocated by SPNA out to local organizations that supported the Sylvan Park community.  

For year-end 2025, our SPNA Steering Committee decided NOT to ask community members to send us their community donations . Instead, the approach we're going to follow this year-end is as follows:

·       At the time that individual requests for giving arise, our SPNA Steering Committee will assess whether SPNA has the funds available in our operating assets to cover expense requests.  If funds are available, and Steering Committee members agree to bring a recommendation to membership, a membership vote will be taken to fund requests as they come due.  We saw an example of this in late 2025 when our membership voted to fund our traditional purchase of "thank you" sandwich platters and gift cards for our local police and fire teams.  Those police and fire gifts were delivered in December 2025!

·       Rather than asking neighbors to contribute to an SPNA fund that is then allocated out to local nonprofit groups, we're encouraging all of our neighbors to generously give directly to local nonprofit organizations that support our Sylvan Park community.  Below is a list of the organizations that the Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association has voted to support in recent years (in addition to the police/fire thank you gifts noted above):  

·        The Richland Creek Run (Greenways for Nashville)

·        Richland Park Library

·        The Senior Renaissance Center

·        Harpeth Conservancy

·        Sylvan Park PTO

·        West End Middle School PTO

·        Hillsboro High School PTO

·        McCabe Little League

The above groups are organizations that SPNA has chosen to support in recent years, but these are just a few of the many groups that are doing incredible work in our community. (SPNA has also partnered with organizations such as Friends of McCabe Park and Friends of Richland Park.) Your direct contributions to organizations of your choice can help to support the causes that are most important to you and your families.
